Our Herds
Our cows are born and bred on farm and hand reared. This creates a secure environment for the health and welfare of each animal and the herd. We manage a Holstein herd known for their excellent milk production and their characteristics make them ideal for handling and adapting to their environments.
A2 Genetics
We breed and and care for one of the largest A2 genetic herds in Australia. We also assist our supplier farmers convert to A2 herds as we believe they produce the finest quality milk for human consumption. Our cattle are DNA tested for A2 genetics.
Cows naturally produce different types of milk proteins and these proteins affect people differently. Beta-casein protein is one type that accounts for about a third of the total milk protein. A2 beta-cesein protein is recognised as being the original beta-casein protein in cows. Over time another milk protein (A1 beta-casein protein) appeared in Europe and spread through global herds via modern farming practices. Research has shown that A1 and A2 proteins digest differently. Current and growing scientific evidence supports that the different protein fragments produced have an impact on aspects of the digestive function.
Pasture Based Feeding Systems
Our livestock are fed on our rich pasture based feed systems that are monitored for quality and sustainable farming practices. Each cows milk production is monitored and analysed to ensure health throughout the entire herd. We have full biodynamic traceability through our feeds systems to milk production.
National Livestock Identification System (NLIS)
At birth calves are tagged with a unique identifier, which allows complete traceability of the health and wellbeing of each animal. Growth rates, location, feed mix, health and milk production are all monitored as part of the herd management system and quality control.
